Mario Morales (Santiago de Chile, 1990) is an artist fully devoted to painting. His work consists in the materialization of an extensive conceptual research in the bidimensional plane. From that exploration of several different thematic, scientific and psychologic universes, the artist abstracts, appropriates and projects unique concepts into a geometrical, optical and kinetic compositions.
Mario Morales’ work transits from the intrinsic meanings of each work to carefully crafted linear compositions dynamized by the extensive use of color and finally realized through a rigorous painting technique over wood, achieving new vibrant visual configurations.
Abstract forms fluidly converge aiming to circle back to a well defined image becoming a visual dynamic composition that stimulates the imagination of the viewer.
The artistic theme of Morales is based on the concept of abstract geometry expressed in works that portray encrypted concepts.
Morales’ process involves replicating mathematical behavior and elegant angles. His work manifests and insinuates different symbols. The compositions allude to a concrete meaning through ritual that is well-founded in color and space.
Since 2015, Morales has interacted with a vast spectrum of ideas, and he is inclined to show movement in his compositions, evoking complex optic and kinetic constructions that are habitually interrupted by a jump to concrete and paralyzed geometric impulses. This is accomplished through the systematic unfolding of the observer’s perception of the works, thereby tangling the observer in the dilemma of the material.
